Plant Description
Dionaea muscipula D23 is a compact Venus flytrap clone selected for its strong colour and dense growth. It forms a low, spreading rosette with many traps packed closely together.
The plant stays relatively short. Leaves are broad and lie close to the surface of the growing medium. This keeps the traps facing outward, creating a full and layered appearance. As the plant matures, Dionaea muscipula D23 develops into a tight clump with a high number of active traps at one time.
Colour is a key feature. The trap interiors develop a deep red to burgundy tone in good light. This colour often fills most of the inner surface, while the outer trap remains green to yellow-green. The contrast between the red interior and lighter exterior is clear and consistent.
The traps are medium to large in size and have a rounded shape. Marginal teeth are typical, evenly spaced, and frame the trap cleanly. There is no distortion in tooth form, which gives the plant a balanced look despite its strong colour.
Growth is steady and reliable. The plant divides over time and increases trap count rather than height. This results in a dense, carpet-like clump when grown on.
Plant photos above are of our Dionaea muscipula D23 mother plants. Divisions are taken from the mother plants and are planted into 9cm pots to be sold. Division sizes can vary greatly and will always be sent largest first. If you'd like to know the size of a plant before ordering, please feel free to contact us.
