Sarracenia psittacina is also known as the parrot pitcher plant. This species is frequently submerged in its native habitat and can even catch aquatic arthropods and tadpoles.
Found naturally in the southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, Sarracenia psittacina comes in two different varieties. Sarracenia psittacina var. psittacina is the species-typical variety. A much larger variety also exists which is Sarracenia psittacina var. okefenokeensis, a truly impressive plant!
