Sarracenia minor is also known as the hooded pitcher plant. It grows in areas of northern and central Florida and in Georgia up through South Carolina to the southern part of North Carolina. It is the most southern Sarracenia with populations in south-central Florida.
There are 2 primary varieties of Sarracenia minor: the species-typical Sarracenia minor var. minor and the large-growing variety Sarracenia minor var. okefenokeenis. The latter is named after the swampy Okefenokee region where it exclusively grows.
