Ordered 2 VFTs, and had not used this Shop before. I will definitely be returning as the condition of the plants were absolutely superb. The packaging was really professional - far better than the big "Internet & High Street Companies" I've used in the past! I've already recommended this Shop to others, and I will be visiting the site often. Just need to make more room for VFTs at home.

My order was delivered so fast and wrapped really well. Unfortunately one packaged plant also contained two live spiders! I had to really carefully take off the plastic packaging outside. I can't really comment on the plants yet as they are still quite young but they look OK and I am looking forward to seeing them thrive.

I liked the WhatsApp updates re my order despatch. Didn’t like that the hornwort arrived covered in duckweed so I have to quarantine it for a while

No cardboard tube around the pitcher so veiny thing pitcher bent at base. No pitchers at all on mitchelliana, so just a matter of time to see if the (healthy looking) roots establish. Not sure whether the 1-2cm water depth instruction is for the base of the pot or above soil level. As the nutrients for these plants comes from insects they won't get any more until they grow!

Hi Adrian, thanks for leaving a review. They'll look great in that planter! They are perennial plants, so most Sarracenia lose all their pitchers during the Autumn/ Winter and grow new ones late Spring/ early Summer (after flowering).

All the nutrients they need are stored in the rhizomes from what they caught last year. I get a lot of insects in my greenhouses, which is why your mitchelliana has a thick, chunky base. Keep them in a sunny location, and they'll be doing their thing soon enough!

Most people keep them in pots, so I usually say to sit the pot in a tray of water 2cm deep. In a planter like yours, I usually drill a hole in the side an inch or two from the top. Then I can water the planter until water comes out of the hole without flooding the surface. Any other questions, just drop me an email at sales@sarracenia.house

This is my second purchase and I am delighted. The plants were dispatched swiftly, were packed impeccably and arrived in perfect condition. The addition of a lovely hand written note from Gary about how beautiful these particular varieties will be in late summer was a lovely touch. You guys are great! Can’t wait for these two plants to fully establish ready to consume the irritating flies that get trapped in my kitchen ever summer!

My order arrived promptly and completely undamaged, which was great to see.
It did take around 15 minutes to separate the plant from the cling film/shrink wrap, which was a bit fiddly.
The plant itself was very small and didn’t look particularly well established on arrival, but it was healthy and has been doing absolutely fine since planting.
Overall, I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend these plants.

My venus flytraps are UK-grown in my greenhouses, so they're only just coming out of dormancy, which is why they may look smaller than they actually are at this time of year. You'll see a big change over the coming months! Your division was taken in Spring 2025, so it should be established nicely. The cling film can be a bit fiddly, but as they are in wet soil, I have found this the best way to keep the soil wet and the postage box dry. Many thanks again, best wishes, Gary.
