The Sarracenia genus contains 8- 11 species depending on which school of classification you subscribe to. One of the cool things about Sarracenia is that they are all capable of reproducing with any other member of the Sarracenia genus.
In the wild the natural habitats of Sarracenia species overlap which creates hybrid zones containing naturally occurring Sarracenia hybrids. Many of these hybrids have been assigned a hybrid name which works in a similar way to the botanical name assigned to species plants. One of the most famous being Sarracenia × moorei which is a hybrid of Sarracenia flava and Sarracenia leucophylla.
I wanted to create a list containing all of the commonly used hybrid names as a handy reference guide for Sarracenia growers (including myself). Please see the list below and feel free to contact me if you have any other suggestions.
