Description of Astilbe 'Burgundy Red'

Astilbe 'Burgundy Red' is grown for deep red plumes and tidy clumps of foliage. It’s a strong pick for damp shade, giving colour in summer when bog gardens can look very green.

It makes mounded fern-like leaves, then sends up flower plumes in summer. Stems often reach 50 to 80cm. The red tones show best in light shade where the flowers do not bleach.
