Plant Description

Dionaea muscipula 'Charly Mandon's Spotted' is a Venus flytrap cultivar selected in France in 2010. It is best known for the unusual red spotting that develops across the traps, making it one of the more recognisable patterned Venus flytrap cultivars.

The plant produces large traps with a bright green background that gradually becomes decorated with irregular red spots and flecks. Unlike many red Venus flytraps, where the colour forms a solid block across the trap interior, this cultivar develops scattered markings of varying size. The spotting extends across both the inner and outer surfaces of the traps, often appearing on the cilia and, in some cases, along the petioles as well.

The intensity of the pattern increases with strong sunlight. As the growing season progresses, the red spotting becomes more numerous and better defined, giving each trap a slightly different appearance. No two traps develop exactly the same pattern, which adds to the individuality of the plant.

Dionaea muscipula 'Charly Mandon's Spotted' produces a balanced rosette with large traps that allow the distinctive markings to be seen clearly. The teeth remain fairly typical in shape, leaving the spotted colouration as the defining feature
