Plant Description

Dionaea muscipula 'Giant Form' Trevor Cox is a vigorous giant Venus flytrap selected for its impressive trap size and strong upright growth. Mature plants produce broad, well-proportioned traps that are noticeably larger than those of a typical Venus flytrap while retaining the classic shape of the species.

The plant develops long, sturdy petioles that hold the traps well above the centre of the rosette, giving it an open and architectural appearance. The trap interiors develop rich shades of crimson to deep red under strong sunlight, while the outer lobes remain bright yellow-green to green, creating a bold contrast throughout the growing season.

The traps are broad and gently curved, with long, evenly spaced cilia framing each lobe. The generous proportions of both the foliage and traps give the plant a substantial appearance without relying on unusual mutations or modified dentition. As the rhizome matures, the rosette expands steadily and produces an increasingly impressive display of oversized traps.
