Description of Eriophorum angustifolium (Cotton Grass)

Eriophorum angustifolium is common cottongrass, a bog plant known for its fluffy white seed heads. It is a strong feature in wet peaty soils and natural bog gardens.

Appearance

It forms clumps of narrow grass-like leaves. In late spring to early summer, stems carry white cottony heads that move in the breeze. Height is often 30 to 60cm.
