Description of Sarracenia leucophylla 'Slack Clone' X 'Schnell's Ghost'
Sarracenia leucophylla 'Slack Clone' × 'Schnell's Ghost' is a leucophylla cross that focuses on strong white pigmentation and late-season height. Both Sarracenia leucophylla parents are known for their pale upper pitchers, and this hybrid carries that trait clearly. The result is a plant that produces clean, white-topped traps with a fine network of green veining.
Spring growth tends to be smaller and more restrained. Early pitchers are narrower, with less pronounced white in the lid and upper tube. As the season progresses, the plant shifts into its main phase of growth. Autumn pitchers become much taller and more defined, showing the full influence of both parents.
The upper tube and lid develop a strong white tone, broken by a clear green vein pattern. Areoles are large and open, giving the pitchers a bright, almost translucent look in good light. The tube below stays green, creating a clear division between the lower and upper sections.
The lid is broad and gently waved along the edge, held open to expose the throat and upper tube. Unlike some leucophylla forms, red pigmentation is minimal. Any colour is usually limited to faint blush tones, allowing the white and green pattern to stay dominant.
