Winter Dormancy

Plants are now just waking up after Winter so may only have young pitchers and/ or flowers - 06/04/25

Plant Description

Sarracenia 'Adrian Slack' is a carnivorous plant named in tribute to the renowned Sarracenia grower, Adrian Slack. Although the exact parentage of this cultivar is unknown, it is likely a cross between Sarracenia flava and Sarracenia leucophylla, with the possibility of back-crossing. The plant is characterized by large pitchers similar to those of Sarracenia flava, with a slight undulation in the lid from the influence of Sarracenia leucophylla. The pitcher's colouration is heavily influenced by Sarracenia leucophylla, with a white lid with deep red veins from Sarracenia flava, and a heavily veined and lightly fenestrated upper tube. These pitcher features make Sarracenia 'Adrian Slack' an exquisite cultivar. Although the flowers are not as impressive as the pitchers, they are still fascinating, with light pink petals that may occasionally show yellow highlights. Bob discovered this plant in the 1980s in western Florida's Milton area, where it has thrived since then, displaying its stunning colouration.
