Sarracenia × moorei 'Atlas 5'

Plant Description

Sarracenia 'Atlas 5' was created when Mike King crossed Sarracenia × moorei 'Leah Wilkerson' with Sarracenia × moorei 'Adrian Slack' in 2007. So, technically, it is also a Sarracenia × moorei. Before becoming a registered cultivar in 2020, it was informally known as Mirek's Rocket. This is due to its grand stature and shape, and because it had been grown on by Mirek Srba.

Sarracenia 'Atlas 5' is an impressive upright clone, known for its sturdy, tall pitchers that stand strong without drooping. The largest recorded pitcher reached an impressive 96 cm, with a broad peristome spanning up to 9 cm wide. Unlike its parent cultivars, the peristome has a subtle funnel shape rather than a rounded form, topped with a heart-shaped lid that curls upward.

The traps display stunning white fenestration with delicate red veins, while a bold red blotch extends down the column and onto the peristome. Its peach-colored flowers resemble those of S. 'Adrian Slack' but are slightly smaller (6-7 cm) and often more ruffled. 

Plant photos above are of our Sarracenia × moorei 'Atlas 5' mother plants. Divisions are taken from the mother plants and are planted into 9cm pots to be sold.
