Sarracenia 'Bella'

Description

At first glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is a very pretty Sarracenia leucophylla and you'd nearly be right. It is in fact a hybrid of Sarracenia 'Juthatip Soper' and Sarracenia leucophylla which makes its parentage  [(S. leucophylla X S. purpurea) X S. leucophylla Pink] X S. leucophylla. The great-grandparent Sarracenia purpurea contributes to a slightly chubbier pitcher tube than a regular Sarracenia leucophylla.

Strong, defined white, red and green colouration makes this a very attractive plant and a stand-out performer in any greenhouse.

Basic Care

Sarracenia plants are incredibly easy to care for, given the correct conditions. An unheated greenhouse is an ideal location for Sarracenia, they can be grown outside in the UK but a greenhouse provides a longer growing season. Here are the 3 golden rules for healthy Sarracenia.

1. Provide as much sun as possible.
2. Keep their pots sat in 1-2cm of rainwater.
3. Use acidic soil. A 1:1 peat moss & perlite mix is typical but you can also research peat-free alternatives.
