Sarracenia × catesbaei (flava Red Tube × purpurea subsp. venosa) is a Sarracenia hybrid that combines the upright growth of Sarracenia flava with the thicker, broader form of Sarracenia purpurea. In this red tube form, the flava parent adds stronger pigmentation through the upper pitcher and throat.

Pitchers are mid-height and slightly flared, sitting between the tall, narrow form of flava and the low, open shape of purpurea. The tube is sturdy and wider than a typical flava, with a gradual taper from base to mouth. The opening is broad, with a thick rim that often shows a deeper red tone.

Colour develops from a green or yellow-green base into red tones towards the upper tube. The throat patch is usually well defined, forming a darker red area below the lid. Veining is present throughout, becoming denser and more visible as the pitcher matures. In strong light, the upper half can take on a solid red wash.
