Description of Sarracenia flava - Intervarietal Hybrid

This intervarietal Sarracenia flava is likely a cross between different varieties within the Sarracenia flava species. Its parentage likely involves the heavily veined Sarracenia var. ornata and the richly copper-coloured Sarracenia var. cuprea. This plant combines the best traits of both (whatever it is!).

The plant produces tall, upright pitchers that can reach 70 cm. The lid, or operculum, develops a heavy copper-red colouration. This deep hue often appears almost red. The pitcher tube below shows extensive dark, burgundy-red veining. This network of veins covers a large portion of the green leaf surface.

This is a vigorous grower. It maintains the classic, tall trumpet shape of the flava species. The combination of its height, deep copper lid, and dense veining makes it a notable specimen. It handles full sun well and will develop its strongest colours in bright light. A sensational flava!
