Description of Sarracenia 'Giant Cotton'

Although it has the appearance of a robust Sarracenia leucophylla, Sarracenia 'Giant Cotton' is actually a striking hybrid between Sarracenia leucophylla 'Cronus' and a red Sarracenia × moorei. The cultivar was grown from seeds obtained from French grower Cédric Azais in 2011 and later selected by Oliver Bres in 2016 for its exceptional characteristics.

This vigorous plant produces two distinct types of pitchers depending on the season. In spring, the pitchers reach up to 70 cm in height, displaying subtle red pigmentation at their tops. By contrast, the autumn pitchers are towering, reaching an impressive 90 cm, with a brilliant white colouration and remarkable structural strength. The hood remains relatively narrow compared to the plant’s overall size. The dramatic differences between the spring and autumn forms are so pronounced that they could easily be mistaken for different plants. Fast-growing and visually captivating, 'Giant Cotton' was named for its towering autumn pitchers and their striking cotton-white appearance, making it a standout in any Sarracenia plant collection.

Plant photos above are of our Sarracenia 'Giant Cotton' mother plants. Divisions are taken from the mother plants and are planted into 9cm pots to be sold.
