Description of Sarracenia 'Kagaribi'
Sarracenia 'Kagaribi' is a Japanese Sarracenia cultivar named after the word for bonfire, a fitting reference to its vivid red, fire-like colouration. It was selected by a hobbyist grower in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, and has since gained attention among collectors for its size and bold appearance.
This plant develops tall, upright pitchers that show a strong contrast between green tissue and deep red veins. In bright light, the red tones intensify, especially around the upper parts of the trap. The shape and colour shift slightly with the seasons. Spring pitchers tend to be broader and lighter, while those in autumn are narrower with deeper red hues. The seasonal difference gives Sarracenia 'Kagaribi' a changing look through the year, keeping it interesting even for experienced growers.
The mature plant can reach a good height, forming a dense clump over time. It performs best in full sun and typical Sarracenia conditions.
Sarracenia 'Kagaribi' combines size, colour, and seasonal variation in a simple but impressive way. Its name reflects both its origin and its look, like a small bonfire of red veins glowing against green leaves.
