Description of Sarracenia × mitchelliana 'Mary Cheek'

Sarracenia 'Mary Cheek' is a striking Sarracenia hybrid, bred by Roy Cheek and named after his wife, Mary. As a Sarracenia × mitchelliana, it combines traits from its parent species, Sarracenia leucophylla and Sarracenia purpurea, resulting in a visually distinctive and elegant carnivorous plant.

The pitchers grow to around 40cm tall, with pronounced dark purple veins concentrated in the upper half. The contrast between the veining and the lighter background creates a dramatic effect.

Sarracenia × mitchelliana 'Mary Cheek' is a fine example of hybrid vigour, combining the best features of its parent plants, inheriting the slender, upright form of S. leucophylla while retaining some of the robust structure of S. purpurea.
