Description of Sarracenia × moorei (flava 'Maxima' X leucophylla)

Sarracenia × moorei (flava 'Maxima' × leucophylla) is a hybrid that combines the bright, anthocyanin-lacking characteristics of Sarracenia flava 'Maxima' with the height and upper pitcher patterning of Sarracenia leucophylla. The result is a tall, elegant plant with clean colouring and strong seasonal growth.

Pitchers are upright and slender, often reaching impressive heights as the plant matures. The tube remains a bright green to yellow-green throughout most of its length, reflecting the influence of the flava 'Maxima' parent. Unlike many moorei hybrids, heavy red pigmentation is largely absent, giving the plant a lighter and cleaner appearance.

The upper pitcher and lid show clear leucophylla influence. Fine green veining spreads across a pale background, particularly around the lid and upper tube. In strong light, these areas can become almost white, creating a striking contrast with the greener lower pitcher. The lid is broad and held open, with gently undulating margins that give the upper portion of the trap a refined appearance.
