Sarracenia × moorei 'Joker'

Plant Description

Sarracenia ‘Joker’ is a striking Sarracenia hybrid plant bred by Gary Alcock from seed in 2012, with a lineage of [(Sarracenia leucophylla X Sarracenia flava var. rugelii) X Sarracenia × moorei 'Leah Wilkinson')] X Sarracenia × moorei 'Adrian Slack'. So, it's basically a combination of three different Sarracenia× moorei!

This tall, upright clone produces impressive pitchers, with the tallest reaching 80 cm in height. The peristome spans 9 cm in width, while the lid extends even broader and curves forward.

When viewed from above, the lid appears mostly white with subtle veining. Inside, the lid displays a white background with bold red veins, and the throat features a striking, uninterrupted red blotch that stretches from 'cheek to cheek'.

The cultivar was named after The Joker from the Batman franchise. The vivid red throat mirrors the character's dramatic makeup, symbolizing his chaotic nature, while the lid's wavy, dipping form echoes his wild, untamed hairstyle.

Plant photos above are of our Sarracenia × moorei 'Joker' mother plants. Divisions are taken from the mother plants and are planted into 9cm pots to be sold.
