Description of Sarracenia × moorei (MK-F117 X MK-L20a) MK-H221
Sarracenia × moorei (MK-F117 × MK-L20a) is a cross between Sarracenia flava var. rugelii (Milton, Florida) and a tall, red-lipped Sarracenia leucophylla from Baldwin County, Alabama. This pairing brings together the clean structure of flava with the upper pitcher detail of leucophylla.
Pitchers are tall and upright, with a smooth, tapering tube that widens slightly towards the mouth. The lower tube remains green, sometimes with light veining, while the upper section begins to show more pattern.
The lid is broad and held open, showing a network of fine red veins over a pale background. In good light, this upper area can appear lightly washed with white, though it does not reach the full intensity seen in pure leucophylla forms. The red lip is a key feature, forming a clean band around the mouth that stands out against the green tube.
Growth is steady, with pitchers maintaining height and structure through the main season. Early traps tend to be greener and simpler, while later pitchers show stronger veining and improved contrast. The plant holds its form well, with multiple traps standing upright at once.
