Description of Sarracenia 'Tapestry'

Sarracenia 'Tapestry' is a striking hybrid, derived from Sarracenia oreophila, Sarracenia purpurea, and Sarracenia leucophylla. Named for its vivid, tapestry-like patterning, this cultivar combines intricate colouration with robust structure.

Young pitchers emerge green, developing bold red veins and white areoles as they mature. The oversized, ruffled hood and upper tube display this variegation prominently. The throat, lip, and pronounced spout deepen to a dark red, with a distinct red line running the length of the tube. Older leaves darken further, nearing red-black.

Summer pitchers reach 45–55 cm, while winter pitchers are shorter (15–20 cm), remaining green with a red inner line. Flowers are a dusky red-pink. The clumping habit is compact, adding to its ornamental appeal.

Division sizes can vary greatly and will always be sent largest first. If you'd like to know the size of a plant before ordering, please feel free to contact us.

Basic Sarracenia Care

Sarracenia 'Tapestry' is easy to care for, given the correct conditions. An unheated greenhouse is an ideal location. Here are the 3 golden rules for healthy Sarracenia pitcher plants.

  1. Provide as much sun as possible.
  2. Keep their pots sat in 1-2cm of rainwater.
  3. Use acidic soil. A 1:1 peat moss & perlite mix is typical.
