Description of Sarracenia 'Tennis Ball Eater' Clone B

The Sarracenia 'Tennis Ball Eater' Clone B is a striking hybrid created by Gary Wheeler, derived from Sarracenia leucophylla X (Sarracenia moorei X Sarracenia purpurea venosa). Though its name suggests extreme size, pitchers typically remain too small to swallow a tennis ball but retain a robust, chunky form.

This cultivar stands out for its vivid colouration. The pitchers display a bright white base with a contrasting dark red lip, creating a bold visual appeal. The combination of parent species contributes to its hardiness and distinctive appearance.

Clone B inherits traits from its lineage. The leucophylla influence brings upright, flared pitchers, while the moorei X purpurea venosa cross adds sturdy structure and deeper pigmentation. Though not as large as the name implies, the pitchers are substantial and great at trapping prey.
