Description of Sarracenia × moorei 'Vintner's Treasure'

Sarracenia × moorei 'Vintner's Treasure' is a vigorous hybrid pitcher plant, bred from Sarracenia leucophylla and Sarracenia flava var. ornata. Mature plants produce hefty pitchers reaching over 80 cm in height.

Early-season pitchers emerge green with a medium red overlay and scattered white areolae beneath the nectar roll. The hood is large (10-15 cm wide and long), heavily ruffled, and marbled with pink-red veins and prominent white areolae that later flush pink. The fluted mouth is glossy and smooth, matching the hood in size.

As pitchers age, they darken to deep green with rich red tones, particularly near the mouth. The throat develops a shimmering plum-purple hue, extending down the neck. This effect intensifies in bright light. Late summer often brings a second flush of pitchers, nearly as large as the first.

Flowers are red, typical of Sarracenia moorei hybrids. 'Vintner's Treasure' produces its most vivid colours with strong light exposure.
