Description of Sarracenia 'Doreen's Colossus'

Sarracenia 'Doreen's Colossus' is a majestic Sarracenia hybrid, celebrated for its colossal size and striking appearance. It originates from a cross between Sarracenia flava and Sarracenia oreophila, combining the former’s height and vivid colouration with the latter’s hardiness and robust structure. Named in honour of carnivorous plant enthusiast Doreen Smith, this cultivar is capable of producing pitchers 3 feet (90 cm) tall, with some specimens beating that on occasion.

The pitchers exhibit a vibrant yellow-green hue, adorned with bold red veining and a flared, ruffled peristome. Their upright, trumpet-like shape and recurved hood make them exceptionally efficient at trapping insects. In spring, the plant bears tall yellow flowers, typical of its flava lineage.

Not available very often, so grab it while you can!
